As I type this, my lovely fiancee is assisting me in picking spells for my 20th level character. He's a sorcerer-summoner, and I'm taking on statting and gearing him out - but I wouldn't be able to get him completely rolled without her help. This is probably the closest to playing D&D that she'll ever get, but she's being extraordinarily helpful in picking out spells that fit with my character's type.
Moral of the story: Be willing to work on things the other person in the relationship needs help with; it'll keep both of you busy and give you bonding experiences you'd otherwise not have.
